Caleb got a ton of playdough for Christmas and his new table is a great place for him to sit or stand and use his playdough. I got some cute pictures of him just sitting at his table, playing with playdough. We must have sat there for an hour playing with that stuff. I swear he has an amazing attention span for a 2 year old. When he is really interested in something he will play so attentively. I even enjoyed making different things out of playdough, of course Caleb would just smoosh everything I made, I guess that's what boys do. You can see his walker is next to the table, he is doing sooo good with his walker and braces. He walked (with braces and walker) all the way across the room to get to his table...all by himself. He moves slow but he no longer needs us to hold onto him or help him. He will be a pro at that in no time at all. I'll try to post some video of him walking with his braces and walker soon. We are just so proud of him.

Well Caleb had his 4th (and hopefully final) Christmas a couple of nights ago. He got to see Grandpa, Aunt Taylor, Aunt Morgan, Great-Aunt Donna, MeMe and Papa. As you can see Caleb got his first motorcycle, well it's actually a tricycle but Caleb thinks its a motorcycle. He loves it, he would probably sit on it all day if I let him. His feet don't touch the petals or anything but he still enjoys rocking back and forth on it.

Here are some more Christmas pictures. The first ones are from this morning at our house. Caleb got a big train table, Curious George DVD's, and an Ernie and Elmo. He is REALLY into Elmo right now, he sleeps with him every night. I personally like the picture of Caleb and Ally together, Ally doesn't often get that close to Caleb so I had to take advantage of her being right next to him (she was very curious about all the wrapping paper and ribbons). After our little Christmas here we went to see Gammy, Grandpa, Aunt Rachel, and Uncle William. Caleb got about 20 presents there! As soon as he got one present opened another one was put in front of him, he didn't know what was going on! All in all I think Caleb had a good time, it was fun to see him open all of his gifts and then get excited about each one. As of right now I think the train table and the new Thomas the train set are his favorite toys. Of course that could change tomorrow!
For all you Elvis fans out there, here is a picture of Caleb doing his Elvis impersonation. When we ask Caleb to do his "Elvis Face", his lip goes up and his nose crinkles, it's pretty funny (this picture doesn't quite do it justice). Pardon the milk on his chin, he was eating breakfast at the time (forgive the crazy bed-head as well).
We got some cute pictures of Caleb really chowing down on some corn on the cob. He doesn't really eat corn unless it is on the cob, I guess it is just more fun to eat it this way. I even got a picture of father and son enjoying their corn on the cob together.

Caleb had his first round of Christmas presents the other night with Grandma. He definitely has a better understanding of the whole thing this year. He had no trouble ripping off the wrapping paper this time around. He got several good toys from grandma. He loves the "sit 'n spin", but the thing is barely big enough for him to sit on. It's not the same "sit 'n spin" Glenn and I grew up with. We are trying to locate an original "sit 'n spin" for Caleb so that his booty doesn't slip right off. He even let Elmo take a spin with him! I think Caleb enjoyed his first round of Christmas presents!

We took advantage of the semi-warm weather yesterday and went outside. Caleb loves being outside in his mobile stander. His favorite thing is to speed down the driveway, often backwards! I have to stand at the end of the driveway to stop him from flying into the street. The stander really allows him to experience movement that he can't do on his own. Going really fast in his stander is his way of "running". The wheels kinda serve as legs for Caleb. We are so blessed to have this kind of equipment available for Caleb to use. He loves it. The bottom picture is of Caleb discovering his shadow. He would wave his arms in the air just to watch his shadow do the same. It was pretty cute. He's pretty cute.
Here are a few pictures of Caleb by the Christmas tree. The first picture was taken when we were trying to get the perfect picture for our family Christmas card, unfortunately it is impossible to keep a 2 year old still so we never got a "perfect" picture. I thought this one was pretty cute though. I also got a couple of pictures of Caleb standing by the tree in his braces. He loved being able to reach the ornaments on the tree. The braces really allow him to see things from a different perspective. He is doing so great with them too. He isn't on his own yet but he is able to take a few steps with his walker and braces without any help from us. We know that he will get the hang of it eventually and will be getting around well. We are just so proud of him.

I got some cute shots of Caleb eating snack this morning. He had some Teddy Grahams with a glass of milk. He dips each Teddy Graham into his milk before he eats it, usually getting half of his hand wet with milk. I just thought he looked like such a big boy sitting there eating his snack. He is just getting so big, although he is still very much a momma's boy. I keep waiting for him to go through a big "I want daddy" stage, but it hasn't happened yet, although Caleb loves to play with Glenn. I think it is because daddy rough-houses with him more than mommy does. Isn't he a cutie?

We just had a wonderful weekend at Camp John Marc. This is a camp for kids with special needs. This weekends camp was for families that have a child with Spina Bifida. There were about 16 families there, most of which were from North Texas. It was so great to see all of these different kids and their abilities. It was wonderful to meet so many other parents that understand what it is like to have a child with Spina Bifida and all the things that go with that diagnoses. The camp provided several activities for us to do. We had a campfire with s'mores the first night, Caleb was mostly interested in the graham cracker, he didn't quite know what to think about the marshmallow. Caleb got to pet a snake (yikes), a bird, and a bunny. He also made some slime with daddy. Saturday night was a carnival in the barn with all the families and their kids, that was the most fun. Caleb was in his mobile stander and I have to tell you that I have never seen that boy be so social. He was all over the place, playing with different people, giving other mom's hugs, and he followed this adorable little girl with curly blonde hair around (she did have a snow cone in her hand so we aren't sure if it was her or the snow cone Caleb was after). I was just so proud of him, he had such a blast that night. We went fishing this morning but didn't catch anything, Caleb enjoyed it when another dad caught a fish and let Caleb touch it. Anyway we had a great time, this camp is such a wonderful place and we are looking forward to going back next year.
Caleb got some new PJ's this week. I call them Big Boy PJ's because they are the first set of 2 piece PJ's that Caleb has ever had. I took this picture the other morning right after he woke up, that's why his hair looks crazy. I couldn't get him to look at the camera because he was watching Sesame Street. Doesn't he look like such a big boy?

I know this is going to sound crazy to most of you but Caleb had his very first sucker today. I know you are thinking that a 2 year old should have had dozens of suckers by now (Caleb's grandparents think we deprive him because we try to keep sweets to a minimum). Anyway Caleb's speech therapist came today and she thought that licking a sucker would be a good way for Caleb to exercise him mouth so we gave it a try. Of course, he LOVED the sucker, it was grape. He did lick it a couple of times but quickly realized that you have to suck on it if you really want to get the full flavor. He didn't get to finish the entire sucker though because we would have been there all day waiting for him to finish. He was just too cute with his sucker, so I had to take these pictures. I guess we can do more suckers in the future if his speech therapists says it will help with his speech, she also said we could have him lick popsicles! I'm sure Caleb would love that!

Glenn and I took Caleb to the "Hallelujah Carnival" at our church tonight. Caleb was a Train Engineer for Halloween, it seemed like a good fit since he loves all things train right now. He looked absolutely adorable too!! I wasn't sure if he would leave on the hat and bandanna but he kept them on for most of the evening. I think he knew he looked cute in his outfit. Caleb really enjoyed the carnival, there was a petting zoo with a variety of animals, a hay ride, and dozens of games to play. I think the petting zoo was his favorite though, they had ponies, a pig, bunnies, chickens, and goats. He liked to watch the horses eating their hay. I'm pretty sure Caleb had a good time at his first carnival. I can't wait to take him next year because it will only get more fun as he gets older. He is at such a good age now because he is so impressed with everything, he got excited over everything he saw tonight. He sure is cute.

We took Caleb to the Pumpkin Patch today, he loves pumpkins and he started clapping when he saw all the pumpkins. We managed to get some cute pictures but he was so distracted by all the pumpkins it was hard to get him to actually look at the camera. He liked to take the mini pumpkins and throw them like a ball. I included a picture from 2 years ago when Caleb was about 3 months old and we took him to the Pumpkin Patch for the first time. It is amazing to see how much he has changed, he is just soooo big now! After visiting the Pumpkin Patch we headed to Bryce's house for a little Pumpkin Carving party. Caleb stuck his hand inside the pumpkin but quickly withdrew it when he realized how yucky the inside of a pumpkin is. Caleb acted like it was the most disgusting thing he had ever touched, I agree that it was kinda gross. He refused to touch the inside of the pumpkin after that, so daddy did all of the work. Caleb did change his mind about the pumpkin once it had a face, then he decided to give the pumpkin a kiss. He really liked it when we had the candle inside, he kept taking the top off and peeking in at the candle. I think Caleb had a good time at his first Pumpkin carving party.

Caleb got his first set of leg braces yesterday! I had been looking forward to this for weeks and I'm so thrilled that he finally has them. The braces are so cute too! It was so wonderful to see Caleb in his braces for the first time because we were actually able to see him standing up so straight. I don't think we realized how big he actually is until he was standing up. We actually had to stay at the hospital for a couple of days so that the therapists could work with us and with Caleb and they also needed to make sure the braces fit well and weren't rubbing or pinching his skin at all (that's why he is pantless in all the pictures). I didn't really know what to expect because I wasn't sure what Caleb would think about these new things on his legs or if he would even know what to do when they gave him a walker. I was completely blown away by how well Caleb did, he did amazing! I figured we would just work on him standing in his braces and maybe work on some walking with the walker but I never dreamed that Caleb would take to the walker so quickly. With some help and guidance he was able to walk all over the gym. I have never been more proud of him. He will need considerable help at first, the braces and walker will really take some getting used to and he has to work on his balance, it will take time and a lot of practice but he is on his way! I was just tickled to death to see how well he did. I can't even explain how it felt to see him taking all those steps, it was truly amazing. We are just so proud of that little booger!
