A fun evening

Usually it is just us mom's that get together for playdates but last night we managed to get our families together. Angela & Justin (Bryce's mom and dad) were kind enough to open up their house and have us over for a fun evening of yummy Mexican food and lots of desserts! Caleb got to play with Bryce and Nathan (Ethan and Cash weren't able to come) and all the daddies got to meet each other. It was nice to get our families together. It is so fun watching the boys play and steal toys from each other. Nathan is the oldest and he kept stealing cars from Caleb which did not make Caleb happy, and Bryce wasn't too sure about these other boys playing with his toys, it was kinda cute to watch. I just love that there are several families nearby that have boys Caleb's age. It has been such a blessing to get to know these mom's and their boys. I can't wait to watch our boys grow up together and hopefully be good friends.

Fitted for Braces

Caleb got fitted for braces today. Yeah! He did so good while the cast was being put on his legs and while all the measurements were taken. The casts were only put on long enough to get a mold so that the braces are made just for Caleb and then the orthotist cut the casts off. It was kinda neat to watch how they make them. The orthotist commented several times on how good Caleb was the whole time, he said most kids scream their heads off (even though it doesn't hurt). So, Caleb will be getting some HKAFO's (Hip-Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthoses=long leg braces that start at the hip and go all the way down to the foot) within a couple of weeks or so. We will actually have to be admitted into the hospital for a few days so that the therapists can work with Caleb and us so that we feel confident taking the braces and walker home. I am so excited about Caleb getting braces. It will take a little while but how cute will it be when he is able to take a few steps with his braces and walker? I can't wait!

Hurricane Harbor

Well Caleb had his first waterpark experience yesterday. Glenn and I took him to Hurricane Harbor (it will always be Wet N' Wild to me) thanks to a couple of free tickets from grandpa. It has been years since I have been there and it is much smaller than I remember! It seemed so big when I was a kid. We were kinda limited on the places we could go since Caleb is still so young but we had fun anyway. We went down the Lazy River, we did the wave pool, but we spent most of the time at the kiddie pool. Caleb had a blast. He made Glenn and I take him down the water slide over and over and over. He had sooo much fun there, he did not want to leave. But as you can see he worked up quite an appetite and filled his belly with some CiCi's pizza afterwards!

Cruising the neighborhood

Caleb had a get together with his buddies, Ethan and Bryce. They decided to cruise the neighborhood in their mobile standers. Caleb loved being outdoors in his stander, he just wanted to go up the driveway and then go down as fast as he could (scared me to death). Bryce thought it was too hot outside (it was) and he just wanted to go in. And Ethan took off around the corner and was completely out of sight (don't worry his momma was with him). Ethan didn't make it into any of the pictures I took because he rounded the corner so fast I never got a chance to get a shot of him! It was cute to see the boys in their standers. Since they can't walk yet on their own, the mobile standers really serve as their legs and it allows them to "walk" and "run" in a way. Caleb was very tired after being with his friends and he took a nice long nap afterwards.

Train Ride

Since Caleb enjoys his new train set so much we decided to take him to ride the mini train today. Grandpa and Aunt Morgan joined us for the fun. Caleb was so excited when the train pulled up to pick everyone up, his eyes got so big. He sat in Aunt Morgan's lap for most of the ride, although Grandpa did get a brief turn holding Caleb before he wanted back in Morgan's lap. It was about a 40 minute train ride and Caleb really enjoyed the ride even though it started raining on the way back to the station and we got a little wet. After the train ride we went to Grandpa's house for dinner and playtime with Aunt Morgan. Caleb had a very fun, busy weekend and he was a tired boy tonight so he is sleeping soundly in his bed.

Almost the beach

Glenn and I took Caleb to the park this morning. There is a sand volleyball court there so we decided to let Caleb play in the sand. We figured this was the closest we were going to get to seeing a beach...this year anyway :). Caleb loved playing in the sand and believe me, he left there with sand in every single crevice on his body.

Choo Choo Train

Caleb got a must-have toy for every boy...a wooden train set. He really likes trains so I thought he would enjoy having his own train set and I was right. As you can tell from the pictures, he likes his new train set. Glenn and I even enjoyed playing with it, I was so proud of myself when I built the track and everything connected together! Caleb was so focused on his new train set that he skipped having his snack, and that is saying a lot because Caleb isn't one to miss a meal! It is so fun to sit and watch him play, especially when he is playing with something that he is really interested in. He just kept pushing his train along the track, it was adorable. I think this will be a toy that he enjoys for a long time.

Sportin a New Hat

Caleb, Grandma, Aunt Rachel and I went to the mall yesterday to do a little shopping. I got Caleb this cute hat (among other things) and it only cost 19 cents!! Now that is a bargain! I think it looks pretty cute on him but of course I think everything looks cute on Caleb.
