Hello family and friends. I think most of you know that I am pregnant and that I have had a few issues pop up with this pregnancy. The biggest high-risk issue I had was placenta previa which is when the placenta is covering the cervix. Well one of the symptoms that come with placenta previa is heavy bleeding during pregnancy, I started bleeding at 3am Sunday morning so Glenn rushed me to the hospital where they made every effort to stabilize me because I was not quite 32 weeks pregnant. The goal was to stop the bleeding and to keep our baby in me as long as

possible. Things seemed to be improving until last night when I started bleeding very heavily and had to have an emergency c-section. It was a very scary situation and everything happened so fast. The put me to sleep for the c-section and I had to have a blood transfusion because of all the blood I lost. And when they got me open they realized that the situation was much worse, my placenta had grown outside of my uterus and had actually attached itself to my bladder. Basically my uterus was so badly damaged that I had to have a hysterectomy. The good news is that even

though he was born 8 weeks early our baby boy is doing well. He weighs 4 lbs, 7 oz. He is breathing on his own which is a good thing. He will have a lengthy hospital stay though. He is absolutely gorgeous, and his name is Benjamin David McLelland. We are just so happy that he is ok. I am asking for your prayers for our baby boy, just that he would continue to do well and come home in record time. Also prayers for me and my recovery, I am in a good deal of pain right now.

We are thinking of you guys. Please let us know if you need anything at all.
Cassie-
I am so sorry to hear that things haven't gone how you had hoped they would. But what a blessing that Benjamin is doing well. I will pray for both you and baby- that your recoveries will be quick and that you will be blessed with peace and comfort in knowing that our Heavenly Father loves you both and is mindful of your needs. What a beautiful little baby you have! Congratulations!

Cassie -
You, Benjamin, Glenn & Caleb are in our thoughts. I'm so glad that Benjamin is already showing your such encoraging sings...breathing on his own and a good weight for his age. He's a patient fighter, like you. This time of year reminds us that when everything around us looks its darkest, a new light enters the world.
With much love,
Merritt
P.S. What a big boy for being so early!!! Go McLellands!!
Congratulations on your sweet baby boy! I am so glad to hear you both are doing well.
What a scary situation, but I'm glad that Benjamin is here in time for Christmas. I will be praying for your speedy recovery and for Benjamin to come home soon.
Dear Cassie and Family,
I am praying for you to recover quickly, and that Benjamin will grow and stay germ-free in the hospital. Congratulations on the birth of this wonderful baby boy, though, I know his entry was not what you expected.
Merry Christmas - Love and Prayers from Ohio.

Cassie, you and baby Ben are in my prayers and in God's hands, which is a very safe place to be. He will take good care of you both. Glenn, you have done a great job juggling everything, son. I know it hasn't been easy but you can handle it. Soon I will be home and can help out where need be. I simply can't hardly wait to see my new grandson, Benjamin. I guess I couldn't have timed my vacation any worse! I love and miss you all. Mom
I can't imagine how hard all of this has been for you. I am covering your family in prayers and hope you all will be together, happy and healthy soon. I will be happy to do your photography session whenever you are ready.
