Benjamin's 2 month check-up went well. He got 4 shots and he did better than I expected. He cried of course but as soon as they were done and I picked him up he was quiet. He weighs 7 pounds 6 ounces, which isn't as much as I hoped. He's gained less than a pound in the past 3 weeks. The doctors said that equals to about 1/2 ounce gained per day which is the minimum weight gain expected. She didn't seem too concerned at this point. Hopefully he will start to put on the pounds soon. I did ask her when we could venture out into the world again since we have been hermits since Benjamin came home. Unfortunately she said we had to wait until April when RSV and flu season is over. There is some concern about his head shape, his head is very oval shaped which she said is common in preemies. She gave me some info for Cranial Technologies, I called them and we have a consultation on Friday. It's not anything to be terribly concerned about, there are things that they can do to "reshape" the head. I'll keep you posted. Here are some recent pictures:

Recent Pictures

Here are a few recent pictures of our boys.

Benjamin is doing really well. Even though he has been here almost 2 months now his actually due date was only 2 days ago! He looks like he is gaining weight and getting longer, he no longer fits into his preemie outfits. He has a pediatrician appointment on Monday, I can't wait to hear how much he weighs. He gets 4 shots that day and unlike Caleb he will be able to feel the shots, so I'm preparing myself for some crying (from both of us).

Benjamin loves laying on our chests so we put him on Caleb's chest the other day. Caleb laid so still, it was precious.

Anytime Benjamin cries Caleb says "He needs pacifier", so here is Caleb making sure that pacifier doesn't fall out of Benjamin's mouth. Caleb really doesn't like it when Benjamin cries.

Here is Benjamin fast asleep on the floor. He still sleeps a lot but he is beginning to have more times when he is awake and alert.

Any resemblance?

The first picture is of Benjamin in the bouncy seat and the second picture is of Caleb. Any resemblance? I kinda see some similarities. Of course Caleb doesn't look anything like he did as a baby now and Benjamin will change so much too. I just wonder if our boys will look anything alike or if they will look totally different. I guess only time will tell. One thing is certain...we have been blessed with 2 beautiful boys.

Happy Valentine's day

Here are a couple of pictures of Caleb making a Valentine's cake yesterday. He really enjoyed adding all the ingredients and mixing everything together. He really wanted to lick the spoon but Glenn wouldn't let him because of the raw egg in the mix. I thought it would be fine to lick the spoon, I always licked the spoon when I was little (I still do) and I never got sick. I guess it is better to be safe. We all enjoyed a piece of cake after dinner. Happy Valentine's Day!

Spina Bifida Clinic

Caleb had a very long day today at Spina Bifida clinic. We were there for almost 8 hours, which makes for a very long day. Caleb saw the dentist and did absolutely amazing. I couldn't believe how well he did considering it was his first time seeing the dentist. He let the dentist do all the things that needed to be done. I was so proud of him. Caleb also got casts of his legs made for some new braces. He has outgrown his first set of leg braces so he will be getting some brand new ones in a few weeks.

Caleb really enjoys playing in his room these days and this afternoon he was back there by himself. I was in the living room taking pictures of Benjamin (see previous post) and I hear Caleb saying "help me". I ran in there and this is what I saw...Caleb got his hand stuck in his Tonka truck and couldn't get it out. I figured it wasn't an emergency so I thought I would take a quick picture. Glenn was able to get Caleb's hand out with only a couple of very minor scratches. Never a dull moment in the McLelland house!

Here are some pictures of Benjamin on the floor. We like to put him on the floor for "tummy time" because it will help him strengthen his neck muscles. It's so cute how he works so hard to lift that heavy head. Sometimes he get so worn out from the hard work and just falls asleep. He sure is cute.
