B and I at the Zoo!

I get a lot of one-on-one time with Benjamin during the week while Caleb's at school. Benjamin only has school two days a week so we have the other 3 days all to ourselves. Just like he likes it. It occurred to me the other day that I never take Benjamin to do fun things together...just me and him. I drag him on my errands with me all the time but I don't often take him to do something fun. So today I decided to take him to the zoo. The last time we went to the zoo, Benjamin was only 2 years old and doesn't have a good memory of it. It was funny because Benjamin was actually hesitant to go to the zoo today because he didn't want to go without "daddy and bubba". He is so used to doing that kind of stuff as a family that he felt weird about doing it without the whole crew. But I convinced him to go and we had a great day. Warning: A ton of pictures ahead!

The weather was absolutely fantastic today. Perfect weather.

We are surrounded by animals, and my kid wants to look at the manhole cover!

Benjamin loved the meerkats. They are pretty cute.

Benjamin was cracking me up with the zoo map. He got it out several times to check our location.

Giraffes

He looks so big all of a sudden.

"Hey mom, I need a snack"

Not only does he like manhole covers, he also likes water meters.

Checking out the sharks.

Checking the map...again.

Kangaroos.

Penguins.

Map.

Benjamin actually laid down in the middle of the walkway with his map.

This is my favorite photo from the day.
He was standing in a wind tunnel and pretending that he was in a tornado.
(note: the wind tunnel wasn't actually on)

Learning about gators.

Pretty sure he isn't supposed to pick that up.

Just to give you an idea of how crowded the zoo was today:

There was almost no one there! It was wonderful. Just wonderful.

Checkin' out the lizards.

Eagle vision.

Let's check the map again.

Viper. Yikes!

Passed out in the car. 4 hours at the zoo wears a kid out...and his mom too.

So cute!
I remember a couple of years ago we went to the zoo with katheryn and she was obsessed with those manhole covers!
Looks like a great day!
